I’m certain you want to know about the agent who you are thinking of entrusting your home sale or purchase to. I’ve been selling real estate in Essex and Union counties since 2001, and for most of those years I was a NCJAR Circle of Excellence (Million Dollar Sales Club) winner for outstanding sales achievement, making me one of the top agents in the area. I am also on the Keller Williams Mid-town Direct Leadership Council, an honor reserved for the top four agents in our office. And in 2008 I was the second highest producer in the office of 60 agents. 

I love selling real estate and I am quite good at it, if I may say so myself. For seller’s I am delighted when I can get you a great price for your home and help you to sell it stress free. For buyers, I thrive on finding you the home of your dreams for the price you want to pay. My enthusiasm shows and you will enjoy working with me. I am also very detail oriented and have excellent communication skills. I will follow every step of you transaction and you will be in constant contact with me. 

Prior to real estate sales I was a Partner in a large Architectural/Engineering firm in New York, where I managed multi-million dollar large-scale development projects and was in charge of the Planning and Urban design departments for the firm. ( I was there for 13 years, but left soon after my then eight year old started to fax me his homework.) 

I do bring that business background to my real estate business, I previously negotiated multimillion dollar contracts with high level businessmen and women, and I bring that expertise to any transaction I have. I also did marketing for my firm and bring that knowledge to my real estate marketing. I bring a high level of professionalism and business know-how to everything I do and I believe my clients benefit from this added level of sophistication. 

I attended Grinnell College in Iowa and have a master’s degree from Columbia University in NYC. Now I attend continuing education classes in real estate sales to keep on top of the latest issues and technology. I also have completed an Ecobroker course so that I understand the latest in green technology as it relates to real estate sales. 

On a personal note I grew up in Honolulu (down the street from Steve Case who founded AOL, please don’t ask), volunteer in the community, I’m a movie fanatic and do a lot of Zumba dance. And I'm proud mom to the son who faxed me his homework at age eight --he is now a NYU undergrad. Now that he is away at school my silly Miniature Schnauzer Jack rules the house.

Houses that are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated tend to sell quickly, and for top dollar. There can be substantial savings for home-buyers who are willing to purchase a property that needs cosmetic improvements.

When you look at a house that needs work, try to imagine it with fresh paint, refinished floors and new carpet. Consider the attractive features of the home. Would it get more sunlight if the draperies were opened and the windows cleaned? Does the back yard have potential?

Try to distinguish between the cosmetic condition of the house and the state of its structure and major systems. Some fixer-uppers need a lot of professional attention from electricians, plumbers and other expensive professionals, while others are true bargains that can be transformed with a little elbow grease, a paint brush, and your imagination.
